Understanding the impact of trauma on individuals and minimizing its effects without causing additional trauma.
The emotional or physical tension which can cause an individual to escalate and possibly become violent. Sources of stress can be internal or external, acute or chronic, real or unreal.
An assessment tool that uses a common language of escalating behaviors to help staff identify distress and make the least impactful response to de-escalate the situation. The scale helps a team communicate and document consistently and effectively. The five levels of escalating behavior are: Agitated, Disruptive, Destructive, Dangerous, and Threat of Lethal.
